ATTEND THE 4/23 BOARD MEETING
Join us in person or via Zoom at 6:00 PM. A strong turnout is crucial. Arriving early at 5:30 PM will help secure seats and be sure to wear RED!
After two years of advocacy, Superintendent Leach has confirmed that the restoration of AS/Honors courses will be on the agenda for the April 23 school board meeting. This is our chance to make our voices heard and push for the reinstatement of these essential academic options for all students starting in 9th grade.
Streamlining has harmed underrepresented students and has worsened the achievement gaps (see FAQ). The 11 AS/Honors courses were eliminated without meaningful community engagement or a Board vote. The community is counting on the Board to lead with transparency, integrity, and a shared belief in the potential of every student.
At the board meeting, we will advocate for the following:
Share our site and ask friends and neighbors to sign our online letter to the Board. To date, almost 1200 people have signed; we will continue to provide the board with emails from supporters. This affects our entire community and we will continue our public awareness efforts
Follow & share it with others: SUHSD Students First (@suhsd_students_first). See links below!
Do you have a special skill or passion you would like to share with this cause? Feel free to email suhsdstudentsfirst@gmail.com. Any suggestions are welcome and you can make a difference.
The primary job of the board is to approve policy and set direction for SUHSD.
Let’s remember that elections matter. Please stay engaged with us for additional next steps.
